Black Student League disrupts classes and demonstrates at Ogontz campus
April, 1970
The Black Student League (BSL), led by Chairman James Belcher, blocked the entrance to Sutherland Hall at the Ogontz campus – the main administration-classroom building – until campus officials agreed to discuss their eleven demands. All classes were canceled that day, and policemen with clubs monitored the demonstration. The group’s demands were similar to those made by the Douglass Association two years earlier.
