PA Black Legislative Caucus expresses concerns with Equal Opportunity Program

August 18, 1971

University administrators, including Acting President Paul Althouse, met with members of the Pennsylvania Black Legislative Caucus to discuss student concerns with the Equal Opportunity Program (EOP). The list of 42 grievances included the lack of black advisors, counselors, tutors, research personnel, and administrators and the lack of support services for EOP students, including financial aid packages.

As a result of student efforts, an internal investigation, and legislative pressure, EOP was restructured, and the director was terminated.
