Richard “David” Robinson, star offensive and defensive end for the varsity football team, was named NEA first team All-American IN 1962. Robinson, a civil engineering student, was the first Negro Penn State football player to receive the honor. The Green Bay Packers later drafted Robinson in the first round. As a linebacker, he helped the team to three NFL championships and two Super Bowl titles. Robinson was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1997.
